I Never

I never expected to meet someone quite like you,

but I always looked for you in every man I met.

I never heard of you before we met that night,

but God always heard our mother's prayers.

I never saw as much beauty in the things of this world,

but you always opened my eyes to see things with yours.

I never dreamed marriage could be so lovely,

but ours always was because we moved as one.

I never looked at another man.

I never dreamed of another man.

I never loved another man.

I never felt another man.

I never wished for another man.

I never knew another man.

But.....

I always looked to you.

I always dreamed of you.

I always loved only you.

I always felt inside of you.

I always wished for you.

I always knew all of you.

We always agreed to never say "always" or "never"

when we were hurt by one another.

I am hurting now, 

but I will never forget the love that you always lavished on me.

I will never forget the way your hand always slipped into mine.

I will never forget how you always gently handled our children.

I will never forget that look you always gave to me, alone.

I never knew I would lose you.

I never thought I would have to learn to miss you.

I never thought I would finish this road alone.

I never wanted anything....but more of you.
