Memorial Service for Michael Barranco

Wednesday, July 13, 2011
Unbeknownst to me, a great videographer from Mobile, Alabama, Lafe Blobaum, came to Jackson and video taped the memorial service for Michael with first class skill.  I was not even aware of the cameras that were staged throughout the auditorium.  I have not been able to sit down and watch it yet because I have not been sure if I could emotionally handle it.  Since so many people were turned away because of the lack of space, and those that could not travel but wanted to be there, I have decided to post the service for all to see, experience, and worship during this time of celebration of Michael's life.  This service ministered to so many people and changed so many lives, that I know it will continue to do this through the means of having this video available to others.  I am overwhelmed today with the magnitude of what God is doing in my life along side the continued enormous void that I have to experience life daily without my Michael.  Today I missed him fiercely and shed lots of tears.  I will talk about that later.  May this video bless you, encourage you, and change your heart more toward the things that God has in store for you in this life.  May God's face shine brightly upon you.  Please share this with anyone you know who was not able to attend or had tried to get into the building but were turned away.  I would love to hear some responses from those who have never seen it.  It was beautiful, uplifting, and pointed toward heaven.  Thank you for all of your prayers and support.  They are still felt and needed.

The video is separated into two parts and are listed as such.

Some time ago I was wrote in a comment that I was praying the Lord would give you hinds feet so you could view things from the highest of spiritual perspectives. I did not get to attend Michael's memorial service, but when I started watching it tonight, I was reminded again of that prayer and was thinking of it yet again for you. Then, I heard your pastor allude to it in his message. My, my, my! I always marvel at God's goodness and confirmations. So again, Jene, may you, more and more, have those hinds feet that will continue to allow you to go higher to learn and know of what is beyond this realm, and may that learning comfort you and bring up that reservoir of joy that resides deep within. Thank you for sharing the memorial videos! Be blessed...........

Jene,
I really don't have the words to "post a comment" on your blog.....but, I will comment because I want you to know the impact that your witness in the midst of your deep grief and time in the wilderness is having on so many. My 32 year old daughter Ashley, who lives in Marietta, GA found your blog and shared it with me. She is a wife and mother of 4 children and has been encouraged by you to "love deeply and extravagantly" her precious husband every minute of every day! I, on the other hand just weep when I read your words. I've been married 36 years to the most wonderful, Godly man who I adore.....and I can only imagine your pain. Oh how grateful I am that Jesus totally understands. He who knew total darkness on the cross and was abandoned by His Father….. He completely understands! We can rejoice that we are not alone, we will never be abandoned or forsaken and that God is good and faithful.......always! The main reason I even began this comment is because on Monday I flew into Jackson from my home in Orlando, FL. and my dear friend Melissa Ridgway picked me up at the airport. My mother lives at the Orchard and I fly to MS every month because I serve on the Board of Directors of Copiah Bank. We went to her home where she had a delicious lunch for us! At some point during our non stop talking I said to Melissa.....do you by any chance know about Michael and Jene' Barranco? With that she got up and got Michael's picture, which is taped to their coffee pot as a call to prayer for them every morning. We shed some tears together over your great loss and the great loss of all who knew and loved Michael. I just want you to know that I am praying for you as the Holy Spirit leads and I'm sure that there are so many making intercession for you and your family that you will never know about. I will be at the beach this week with my family and we will watch the celebration of Michael's life together. By the way....my husband is a pastor and the first wedding he performed was Richard and Melissa's wedding!! I am sending you much love today my dear sister.....because HE first loved us all. Thank you so much, Jene, for posting this video. I had planned to attend Michael's service as his mother is one of my very dear friends. However, I was ill and was unable to go. All the reports of the service have been so magnificant that I really regretted not attending (if I could have snared a seat!). So I am so thrilled to be able to watch it. Thank you for your generosity in sharing it with us.

In my prayers I continue to lift you and your family up!!
